I wanted to compile a list of the free tools that I have used personally. These are not trial or free for a limited time only, but actual free tools. I will continue to add more as I find new tools that I find worth keeping.

VMware Utilities

RVTools – .NET 4.0 application which uses the VI SDK to display information about your virtual environments.
vCenter Converter – P2V migration tools from VMware.

Virtual Storage Appliance (VSA)

Dell EMC UnityVSA – Virtual Appliance of the same Unity platform that allows upto 4TB of capacity.
FreeNas – Turn any old computer into a open source filing system.

General Utilities

Rufus – Create bootable USB Drives easily.
Putty – SSH and Telnet Client
MTPuTTY – Multi-tabbed PuTTY
WinSCP – SFTP, SCP & FTP Client.
mRemoteNG – Open Source, multi protocol, remote connection manager. (RDP, VNC, SSH, Telnet, ICA, and more)
Filezilla – FTP Client or Server.
Notepad++ – Source Code Editor and Notepad replacement.
BGInfo – Display relevant information out your VM on the desktop
Duo – Protect logins with two-factor authentication
Cisco UCS Emulator – Great emulator for your lab to learn Cisco UCS.
Tweaks.com Logon Changer – Utility designed to customize your Windows login image.
Onyx –  standalone application that serves as a proxy between the vSphere Client and the vCenter Server. It monitors the network communication between them and translates it into an executable PowerShell code. Later this code could be modified and saved into a reusable function or script.
